I received a BA in Psychology and Gender & Women's Studies from Grinnell College (USA) in 1997. After completing my degree, I moved to Edinburgh. In 2000, I received an MSc in sociology for a research project on Pride Scotland. Originally from Iowa, I am now happily settled in the UK.

I recently finished my PhD research at the University of Edinburgh on experiences of sexual orientation.

Besides academic research, I enjoy reading novels, cooking and swimming.

I also have to get around to getting another good photograph of myself. This one is from when I started my studies in 1998!
